Deerhoof: The Magic [Polyvinyl]

Deerhoof’s last album, La Isla Bonita, came out back in 2014. Its follow-up, The Magic, is led by the tracks “Debut” and “Plastic Thrills.” The Magic is Deerhoof’s second album of 2016, following a collaborative record with Dal Niente called Balter / Saunier. Alice Bag: Alice Bag [Don Giovanni]

Punk pioneer Alice Bag lead the L.A. band the Bags in the ’70s and was featured in the film Decline of Western Civilization. Her debut solo album features the singles “No Means No” and “Poisoned Seed.”

Christian Fennesz / Jim O’Rourke: It’s Hard for Me to Say I’m Sorry [Editions Mego]

Jim O’Rourke and Christian Fennesz previously teamed up as Fenn O’Berg, a trio that also featured Peter Rehberg. Now, as a pair, they’re releasing It’s Hard for Me to Say I’m Sorry. The album is comprised of two side-long tracks. Listen to an excerpt of the first track “I Just Want You to Stay.”

Hot Hot Heat: Hot Hot Heat [Kaw-Liga]

Hot Hot Heat’s self-titled album is their first since 2010’s Future Breeds. It is also their farewell album. It features the single “Kid Who Stays in the Picture.”

River Tiber: Indigo [self-released]

River Tiber is the alias of Toronto producer and vocalist Tommy Paxton-Beesley. Indigo is his debut album. It features the previously released singles “West,” “No Talk,” and “Acid Rain.” Back in March, Tiber built anticipation for the project with the non-album track “Illusions,” which features Pusha T and Kaytranada.
