Action Bronson Sued Over Salsa Samples

Action Bronson is being sued for allegedly sampling salsa stars El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico without permission, as TMZ reports. The songs in question are “Falsaria” and “Trampolin”, which were sampled on Bronson’s early track “Mofongo” and “Tapas” (from 2011′s Blue Chips).

TMZ’s story doesn’t specify who filed the lawsuit, but the publishing rights to “Trampolin” are owned by Cartagena Enterprises (per ASCAP). TMZ quotes the lawsuit filers as saying that Bronson has admitted to sampling the songs, as well as listening to El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. They’re seeking damages, as well as the cessation of distribution.

Update (8/19, 12:58 p.m.): Per Bronson’s representative, the rapper is not commenting at this time.
