Apple’s Beats Releases New Wired Headphones That Won’t Work With the iPhone 7

Earlier this month, when Apple confirmed it would be killing the headphone jack for its new iPhone 7, the company’s Beats subsidiary also announced a new line of wireless headphones. However, with much less fanfare, Beats has also released a new set of headphones that still use the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, as Billboard points out. This headphone set is called the Beats EP, and an Apple Store product description notes, “Its battery-free design offers unlimited playback and hassle-free fixed cable lets you focus on the music.”

An Apple spokesperson declined to comment to Pitchfork about the headphones on the record. Beats EP headphone sets are available in four colors and cost $129.95.

The Beats EP headphones are “exceptional[ly]” well-built, Beats Electronics president Luke Wood told Mashable. “The sound is beautiful and it’s extremely simple,” he said. “It’s really the entry point into the brand.”
