Arcade Fire's Will Butler Shares Song Inspired by ISIS

Every day this week, Arcade Fire‘s Will Butler has written a new song based on a news story in The Guardian. Now, he’s shared “By the Waters of Babylon”, a song about ISIS destroying the museum in Mosul. You can listen to it above.

“By the Waters of Babylon” is the last of Butler’s Guardian-inspired songs. On Monday, he released “Clean Monday”, a song about the Greek debt crisis, followed by “Waving Flag”, inspired by articles about anti-apartheid figure Moses Kotane and Ukrainian separatists celebrating a holiday, on Tuesday. On Thursday, he shared two tracks: The first concerns the water crisis in São Paulo, Brazil, and is titled “You Must Be Kidding“, while the second, “Madonna Can’t Save Me Now”, is about a newly discovered black hole.
