Azealia Banks Breaks Down Discussing Russell Crowe Incident on “Access Hollywood”

Azealia Banks sat down with “Access Hollywood” to discuss the battery charges she filed against Russell Crowe earlier this month. Banks claimed that Crowe choked her, spat on her, and called her a racial slur while forcibly removing her from a party he was hosting that Banks had attended as a guest of RZA. Crowe’s camp denies her claims, and says that Crowe had removed Banks from the party after she behaved erratically and threatened to cut another party guest with a glass. During the course of her interview with “Access Hollywood”’s Alex Hudgens, Banks explained her side of the events in question.

She alleged that the conflict began shortly after Crowe mocked her music career, and escalated from there. When asked “What made him suddenly snap?,” Banks responded, “Who knows? Maybe it was the moonshine? Maybe it was the rejection? Maybe it was the jokes?” They also discussed the lack of surveillance tapes of the events, and her feelings on the aftermath of the claims.

At one point in the interview, Banks started crying. “Every time something like this happens, I’m always like being blamed for like wanting this kind of attention. Like, who fucking wants to tell someone they got spat on? That’s humiliating. I’m just really, really humiliated.”

You can watch the entire interview here. Below, you can find a snippet of the interview that Banks posted on Instagram.

RZA has come out in defense of Crowe, saying “this is not a race or gender issue,” and called Banks “obnoxious” and “erratic.” Afterwards, Banks shared a statement on Facebook, saying RZA was trying to “gaslight” her.
