Azealia Banks Makes Court Appearance, Arrest Warrant Retracted

Azealia Banks appeared in New York court today and a judge has set aside a warrant that was out for her arrest, Banks’ entertainment attorney, John Vafa, told Pitchfork in a statement. The judge issued the warrant yesterday after Banks missed a scheduled hearing on misdemeanor assault and attempted assault charges. Also yesterday, Vafa issued a statement explaining that Banks had mixed up the court date, and was unable to attend as she was in France for Paris Fashion Week. The charges stem from a 2015 arrest following an altercation with a security guard at a nightclub.

Vafa, in his statement today, told Pitchfork: “The Court retracted the warrant. Azealia appeared immediately after she returned to New York.”
