Beatport Releases Free Embeddable Streaming Player, Paying Artists For Each Play

Beatport, the online music store that specializes in electronic music, has launched its own embeddable music player (above), Billboard reports. The news gets better—artists and rights holders will be compensated for each play.

Every song on Beatport now includes an embed code. Beatport executive creative director Clark Warner said in a statement:

“Supporting artists has been a core value at Beatport since day one, and that mission remains as we expand to serving fans with our new streaming service. Our embeddable streaming music player not only helps artists promote their music by making it available wherever their fans live online, but we are also taking the necessary steps to pay rightsholders for each listen so artists get paid.”

It was recently revealed that SoundCloud have signed licensing deals, but they still don’t pay most rights holders per stream. Spotify offer embedded streams, though a subscription is required in order to listen.
