Beyoncé and Jay Z Coast Through the Desert in Part One of Bang Bang Film Trilogy

Last month, Beyoncé and Jay-Z shared a trailer for their HBO concert special “On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay Z” in which the singer performed Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” for the rapper.

As it turns out, the footage is part of a larger project entitled Bang Bang: a trilogy of short films directed by Dikayl Rimmasch that chronicles Mr. and Mrs. Carter’s cinematic alter egos as they live life “on the run”. Footage from the films appeared throughout the On the Run Tour, which recently wrapped up in Paris. Watch the first part of the trilogy below, via Nowness.

Speaking with Nowness, Rimmasch recalled a conversation with Jay-Z in which the rapper elaborated on the reasoning behind the duo’s incorporation of the Bonnie and Clyde mythos into the films.

We’re not trying to do this literally, it’s not that we’re Bonnie and Clyde. We’re on the run from everything. On the run from becoming a cliché. On the run from doing the same thing again.
