Beyoncé Endorses Women’s March on Washington

Beyoncé has voiced her support for the first Women’s March on Washington. On her Facebook, she wrote, “As #GlobalCitizens, we can make our voices heard and turn awareness into meaningful action and positive change.” See her full note below.

In the lead-up to the election, Beyoncé was an outspoken supporter of Hillary Clinton. She performed at one of Clinton’s final campaign events, and also appeared (alongside Jay Z, Chance the Rapper, Big Sean, and others) in a video endorsing her.

The Women’s March on Washington takes place the day after Inauguration Day on January 21. The night of the march, D.C.’s 9:30 Club will host the Official March After-Party, which will feature appearances by the National, Sleater-Kinney, Tig Notaro, Senators Al Franken and Cory Booker, and others.

On January 19, Solange, Esperanza Spalding, and others will perform at an alternative inauguration ball. The Peace Ball takes place at the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and “celebrates the accomplishments and successes of the past 4 years.”
