Big Star’s Chris Bell Subject of New Book, Box Set
The late Chris Bell, founding member of Big Star, is the subject of a new book, Billboard reports. There Was A Light: The Cosmic History of Big Star Founder Chris Bell was written by Rich Tupica; it arrives soon via Hozac Books. Read the second chapter of the book here. A series of rare and unreleased Bell tracks will also appear on a new compilation called Looking Forward: The Roots Of Big Star. That’s out July 7 via Omnivore. Check out “A Chance to Live” from Bell’s pre-Big Star band Icewater below. Later this year, Bell’s posthumous album I Am the Cosmos is being reissued on vinyl and in a deluxe 2xCD edition. A 6xLP vinyl box set, The Complete Chris Bell, is also due this year. It’s set to feature more unreleased material.
