Bikini Kill Reissuing 1991 Demo Tape Revolution Girl Style Now With Unreleased Songs

Bikini Kill‘s first recordings were released on a 1991 demo tape called Revolution Girl Style Now. On September 22, the demo will be officially available for the first time on vinyl, CD, and digitally, via Bikini Kill Records. The reissue also features three unreleased tracks: “Ocean Song”, “Just Once”, and “Playground”.

Watch a trailer for the release, featuring footage from the band’s first Olympia, Washington show, below. It was filmed by Brian Ruff and edited by Bikini Kill’s Kathleen Hanna and Kathi Wilcox.

The tape was originally recorded by Pat Maley at ABC House in Olympia, Washington. For this reissue, Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto mixed and John Golden mastered the tracks.

A limited edition replica of the cassette will be made available by mail order only. The first 500 LP preorders come with a limited edition poster, while the first 300 CD preorders come with a button and sticker.

In 2012, Bikini Kill announced a career-spanning series of reissues released through the group’s then newly-founded label, Bikini Kill Records. (The reissues came in celebration of the band’s 25th Anniversary.) In November that year, the band reissued their self-titled EP; then, last year, they put out an expanded version of Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah, their 1993 split with Huggy Bear.
