Birdman Insists Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V is “Definitely Coming Out”

Birdman was a guest on the latest episode of Travis Scott and Chase B’s Beats 1 radio show .wav radio, and they asked him the question that’s still on everyone’s mind: Where is Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V album? After claiming back in May that he wasn’t holding the album back, Birdman gave a more definitive answer about the album’s release: “Carter V coming out,” he said. “It’s definitely coming out. The situation with me and my son, bruh—I’ma put all of that behind us and just let it move forward,” he said, before adding that Wayne was “one of the best artists ever to do the game.” Listen to the clip below.

Tha Carter V saga, and the beef between Birdman and Wayne, has been going on for years. At one point, Wayne said it would be his last album before it got pushed back. He then said Cash Money was refusing to release the album and that he wanted out. Wayne sued the label, then Birdman and Young Thug were indicted for allegedly attempting to murder him. There was a reconciliation, but it didn’t last long, and Wayne even later considered retirement, tweeting that he was “defenseless and mentally defeated,” before returning with more shots. In summation: Tha Carter V has been delayed so long that Young Thug’s homage, Barter 6, is now approaching its second anniversary.

In another clip, Young Thug makes an appearance on the show to (gently) rib Scott about dropping his album Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight around the same time as his own album, Jeffery. Listen to that below as well.
