Bob Mould‘s getting ready to put out his new solo album Patch the Sky, the follow-up to 2014′s Beauty & Ruin. After sharing the first single “Voices in My Head,” the Hüsker Dü frontman has let go of “The End of Things,” another cut from the record. Stream it above.

Speaking with Rolling Stone about the new track, Mould revealed that “The End of Things” is informed by his experiences living in earthquake-vulnerable San Francisco, as well as the unwieldy world at large. “There have been earthquakes, and things can change very quickly,” he explained, “and when something like that happens, my mind wanders into places like, ‘What happens if it does fall apart, so to speak? What if everything collapses?’”

In the same interview, Mould once again shot down rumors of a Hüsker Dü reunion, which recently emerged after the band launched a new merchandise website. “This three-piece band I have now is incredible, I don’t look backwards,” he said. “The merch store is a new way to imagine the assets and I think that’s great. There’s nothing else I can add, other than people should buy lots of T-shirts.”
