Boiler Room Slam “Wildly Inappropriate” Police Over Shutdown of Weekender

Early Sunday morning, November 6, the Ray-Ban x Boiler Room Weekender at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania was shut down following police activity. The event featured Blood Orange, Kamasi Washington, Jamila Woods, Lee Fields, and more. Now, Boiler Room has released an official statement on the incident. They explain that they were forced to shut down the event because of “issues with the local security and law enforcement.” The organizers continue: “Following an unnecessary display of force against attendees present, we had no option but to shut down the music halfway through the second night of the festival.” They also add, “Boiler Room wholeheartedly rejects the approach taken by the law enforcement and security at Split Rock, and any kind of underlying intolerance and hatred that may have underpinned their aggression.”

Boiler Room write that local security acted “wildly inappropriately” in escalating a security search, which resulted “in heavy-handed policing and outward displays of aggression by Split Rock’s security team.”

The statement acknowledges that a woman arrested at the event remains in jail. “We are in contact with her family, and are doing what we can to assist her case moving forward,” Boiler Room say. They also add, “Another guest suffered grievous bodily harm from the head of local security at the resort; we too will be assisting him throughout the legal process.”
