Bon Iver Announce Hollywood Bowl Show With Patti Smith

In 2012, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon said the band was “winding it down” for an extended break. Earlier this year, Bon Iver started back up: They played a series of shows in Asia, as well as a four night stint in Australia. Today, Bon Iver have announced yet another new tour date. They will play a one-off show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 23. Patti Smith and Her Band and Hiss Golden Messenger will join Bon Iver for the event. Bon Iver have not released a new album since 2011’s Bon Iver. Last week, Justin Vernon tweeted that Bon Iver will play a set “made of new music” when they take the stage at Eaux Claires Festival, which is organized by Vernon and the National’s Aaron Dessner. Back in February, he said: “There’s sort of this internal pressure, not from anybody but myself, to come out with new music for the festival. But I’m not gonna make myself do anything. I really have to take it step by step and have patience and know that the music—if it comes out, it’s gotta be really true, it’s gotta really live with the other records and extend from them and be reborn and all that.” In May, he appeared on James Blake’s song “I Need a Forest Fire” from the UK artist’s new album The Colour in Anything.
