Bonnie “Prince” Billy Covers Merle Haggard on New Album, Shares 360° VR “Mama Tried” Video: Watch

Will Oldham has announced his latest Bonnie “Prince” Billy album. It’s called Best Troubador, and it’s comprised entirely of Merle Haggard covers from across the late country icon’s discography. The album is out on May 5 via Drag City.  The album’s press release refers to Haggard as Oldham’s “forever hero.” (Oldham interviewed Haggard for Filter in 2009.) Below, check out a 360-degree VR “Mama Tried” video. Oldham is joined on Best Troubador by Van Campbell, Nuala Kennedy, Danny Kiley, Drew Miller, Cheyenne Mize, Chris Rodahoffer, Mary Feiock, Emmett Kelly, A.J. Roach, and Matt Sweeney.
