Bruce Springsteen Responds to Trump’s Australia Phone Call With “Don’t Hang Up” Cover

Earlier this week, Donald Trump abruptly ended a phone call with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull after a tense conversation. Bruce Springsteen addressed the situation at a recent Melbourne concert with a fitting cover of the Orlons’ “Don’t Hang Up,” Billboard reports. Introducing the song, he said, “We stand before you embarrassed Americans tonight…. We’re gonna use this [song] to send a letter back home.” Watch a performance clip below.

Springsteen has been extremely vocal about his disapproval of Trump. He spoke at length about the dangers of a potential Trump presidency during his November performance at a Clinton rally. In a 2016 interview with Rolling Stone, he commented, “The republic is under siege by a moron.”
