Camera Obscura Cancel Shows as Keyboardist's Cancer Fight Continues

Camera Obscura keyboardist Carey Lander is currently undergoing treatment for bone cancer. The band has announced they’ve canceled their upcoming October tour dates in Mexico and California to accommodate the treatment. “We’re really sad to disappoint our fans but I’m sure everyone will understand that Carey’s health needs to come first at this time,” Tracyanne Campbell wrote on Facebook. “We hope we can come back one day and play for you.”

On a Just Giving page page set up to solicit money for the cancer charity Sarcoma UK, Lander wrote about her four-year fight against the disease. “It’s probably too late to help me, but it would be great if we could find something in the future that means children don’t have to undergo such awful treatment and have a better chance of survival,” she said.
