Chance the Rapper Launches Radio Request Service

Chance the Rapper has launched Rapper Radio, a new service where fans can request that his music gets played on their local radio stations. The website declares “Let’s Bring Independent Music to the Airwaves.” Yesterday, he explained: “The radio is like a huge listening party for people of all demographics to get in tune. In those moments it’s mad ppl in harmony.” Rapper Radio, which Chance has also called “#optioncee,” works by having fans type in their city, which pulls up the local stations. (Inputting New York, for example, brings up Hot 97 and Power 105.1.) From there, the site generates a tweet to the station and the DJs, requesting that they play Coloring Book’s “No Problem” or “Summer Friends” (which he just performed on “Good Morning America”).

Since launching, Chance has been retweeting fans’ requests. The service is also now available in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, France, Ireland, and the Netherlands. He has also promised that he’s “going to do something special in” the city with the most requests. See some of his tweets about it below. Check out Rapper Radio here.
