Chance the Rapper Receives Chicago's Outstanding Youth of the Year Award From Mayor Rahm Emanuel

Today, Chance the Rapper was presented Chicago’s “Outstanding Youth of the Year Award” by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chicagoist points out. Chance called it “the most important award I will ever win”.

The award was presented to him, according to the plaque, “for your outstanding contributions to the youth of the state of Illinois. You have given yourself to the upward mobility of young people throughout the state of Illinois.” He responded, “It’s an honor to bear that weight.”

Earlier this year, Chance and his father promoted the #SaveChicago campaign, which resulted in Chicago going 42 hours without a gun-related homicide.
