Childish Gambino Says His Next Album Will Be His Last

Last night, Childish Gambino performed a rare live set at Governors Ball Music Festival. He closed out by playing ”Redbone,” and hinted that his next album would likely be his last. “You’re in my heart,” he said, addressing the New York City crowd. “I’ll see you for the last Gambino album.” Tune in at the 5:43 mark below to hear the announcement. Pitchfork has reached out to Donald Glover’s representatives for comment. Last year, Donald Glover shared his “Awaken, My Love” album, which recently received a vinyl release with a virtual reality component. Glover is currently set to play Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars film and Simba in Disney’s The Lion King remake. He is also working on new animated “Deadpool” series, following the success of his FX show “Atlanta.”
