Coachella 2016: Diplo, Skrillex, Mavis Staples, Joey Bada$$, Ellie Goulding Pay Tribute to Prince

Last night, several artists on Coachella‘s lineup took some time during their sets to pay tribute to Prince in addition to LCD Soundsystem (who did”Controversy”) and Sufjan Stevens (who performed “Purple Rain” with Gallant). Mavis Staples gave a speech calling Prince her “son” and “the most beautiful spirit that I have ever met” before singing “Purple Rain.” Joey Bada$$ displayed the giant Prince symbol while “1999″ played. Diplo and Skrillex closed their Jack Ü set with Prince music as the symbol displayed on their oversized computer screen. Ellie Goulding sang “When Doves Cry.” Find footage of those moments below.

Prince was found dead at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassen, Minnesota on Thursday at 57. Support has poured out from across the musical community.
