Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter Appears Unmasked in Film Clip With Jon Heder

Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk has made a rare unmasked appearance in the new film Reality, as DJ Mag Canada points out. Directed by Quentin Dupieux (who records music as Mr. Oizo), Reality is available now on-demand. Dupieux had stated in February that one member of Daft Punk would appear in the film. Watch his appearance below.

Bangalter’s cameo is brief. He reads a magazine in a doctor’s office waiting room when, all of a sudden, Jon Heder (best known as Napoleon Dynamite) rips it out of his hands and throws it on the ground. Philip Glass’ “Music With Changing Parts” (which serves as the film’s score) plays in the background.

Élodie Bouchez, Bangalter’s wife, also stars in the film.

Both Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo are set to appear unmasked in the upcoming film Eden, as The New York Times reportsEden tells the story of France’s electronic music scene in the 1990s, and features portrayals of several real world DJs including Daft Punk.
