Back in July, Damon Albarn said he was “writing a musical”, and today he announced specifically that he’s written music for a new musical called Wonder.land, which will be shown at Manchester’s Palace Theatre as part of Manchester International Festival in July. The show is inspired by the Lewis Carroll novel Alice In Wonderland and will be directed by Rufus Norris, the incoming Director of the National Theatre. Check out the banner above.
Previously, Albarn has composed two operas– Dr Dee: An English Opera and Monkey: Journey to the West, the former of which was also written for Rufus Norris and performed in Manchester.
