Dave Grohl Writes Letter to Town Council on Behalf of Teen Metal Band

Black Leaves of Envy, a teenage metal band from Cornwall, England, were recently asked by their town council to stop practicing in their garage, for noise reasons. They were asked to keep the sound to 30 or 40 decibels—an impossibility for a metal band, of course—and subsequently, have been unable to practice for the last three months. Recently, they appealed to Foo Fighters‘ Dave Grohl, asking for his support as The Plymouth Herald reports. Today, Grohl wrote a letter to the council on the band’s behalf, in which he stressed the importance of enabling young musicians to make music. In asking the council to reconsider the noise limitations on their practice space, he wrote, “I believe that in doing so, you will be sending a message that Cornwall is not only a home to music and the arts, but a place that encourages children to follow their dreams in a world where anything is possible.” Read his full letter below.
