David Bowie Art Auction Day Two Raises $10 Million

The Sotheby’s auction for David Bowie’s art and furniture collection concluded its two-day run yesterday. Pieces sold on the second day fetched £8,594,250, or $10,830,000, bringing the total to £32.9 million ($41.1 million). The remaining pieces were divided into two lots: “Modern and Contemporary Art,” which raised £7,213,250, and the Ettore Sottsass and Memphis Group design auction, which made £1,381,000. Items sold yesterday include Odd Nerdrum’s “Dawn,” which sold for £341,000 ($430,000), and Bowie’s amazing Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni record player, which you can see below. That one went for £257,000, or $324,000.
