David Bowie Contribution to Frank Ocean’s Blonde Clarified

David Bowie was among many contributors to Frank Ocean’s Blonde, according to credits listed in the accompanying “Boys Don’t Cry” magazine. Today, a representative for Bowie has confirmed to Pitchfork that no samples were cleared for the release, and the pair didn’t work together. The rep, who speculates Frank probably credited Bowie as an influence, did share a full-page photo tribute that appeared in the magazine. You can see that below.

Other listed contributors included Elliott Smith, whose “Fond Farewell” chorus was interpolated for “Seigfried,” and the Beatles, whose “Here, There and Everywhere” Frank quotes in “White Ferrari.”
