De La Soul Share "Trainwreck," Announce New Album and the Anonymous Nobody... Release Date

Last year, De La Soul raised over $600,000 on Kickstarter to fund their next album, their first since 2004′s The Grind Date. Recently, they gave an update on the project: It’s called and the Anonymous Nobody…, and it’s out August 26 (via AOI Records). They also shared a new EP, For Your Pain & Suffering, which is “a preview to future works and also exclusive tracks that did not make the final cut of the album.” The trio have now made the song “Trainwreck” from the EP available to purchase and stream. It’s the only one of the Pain & Suffering tracks that will appear on the album, according to The Fader. Listen to “Trainwreck” and stream For Your Pain & Suffering below.

In a Facebook video, De La Soul provided more information about and the Anonymous Nobody… In it, they say that a new single and video with Snoop Dogg called “Pain” is coming this summer. They also show off the Anonymous cover art. Watch that update (which features a Patton Oswalt cameo) below. Since announcing the Kickstarter campaign, they have teased appearances on the album from Usher, Pete Rock, Roc Marciano, Estelle, Damon Albarn, David Byrne (on a track called “Snoopies”), 2 Chainz (on “Whodini”), and Little Dragon (on “Drawn”). The record is mastered by Bob Power.
