De La Soul's De La Soul Is Dead Anniversary Celebrated With Memorials, Unreleased Track: Listen

De La Soul‘s second album, De La Soul Is Dead, was released 25 years ago on May 13, 1991. To celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary, De La Soul have launched two physical memorials in New York City. The first memorial is located at 298 Elizabeth St., where former manager Russell Simmons kept his Rush Management office. The second memorial is located at the intersection of 37th St. and 8th, where the group recorded the album at the now-defunct Calliope Recording Studios. They’ve also launched a memorial website, where visitors can digitally sign their names and stream De La Soul Is Dead in full. Find that here. “This album brings back so many good memories for us, we hope these songs provided a good soundtrack for your life as well,” the group wrote on the website. “Show your appreciation and support the life of the culture and its classic albums.” Additionally, they’ve shared “Sho Nuff,” an unreleased song from the album’s recording sessions that was produced by the group’s Posdnous. Listen to that below.
