Death By Audio's Final Days Chronicled in Photo Book, Documentary

After announcing its upcoming closure in late 2014, Brooklyn music venue Death By Audio co-founder Matthew Conboy began documenting the space’s final days. The result, Goodnight Brooklyn: The Story of Death By Audio, premiered at SXSW last month. Photographer (and Pitchfork contributor) Ebru Yildiz was also documenting those last 75 days of DBA. Her photography book, We’ve Come So Far: The Last Days of Death By Audio, is available to pre-order now. Check out some selected from the book, as well as the documentary’s trailer, below.

The documentary features clips of performances by Future Islands, Ty Segall, Dan Deacon, Lightning Bolt, Thee Oh Sees, Deerhoof, Les Savy Fav, and many others. It features interviews with TV on the Radio’s Kyp Malone, Segall (who is an executive producer), Future Island’s Samuel T. Herring, and more. “Under ironic circumstances, we follow them through the last days as they navigate a billion dollar company moving into their building and the associated threats and intimidation to keep residents in fear of reprisals,” reads the film’s synopsis.
