Death From Above 1979 to Record Live Album at Jack White's Third Man Records

Death From Above 1979 are the latest band to record a live session at Jack White’s Third Man Records headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee. They’ve announced a July 16 performance at the store/venue, which will be recorded direct-to-acetate.

A statement on Third Man’s website reads:

Jesse Keeler and Sebastien Grainger are international men of mystery (they’re from Canada) who dip their toes into whatever damn waters they please (MSTRKRFT, Deserts/Bad Tits, Femme Fatale, The Mountains, Black Cat No.13), and who know how to pen a song that’ll get you off your ass and make you feel things. That’s all we really want in a song… how about you? A decade after a sudden break up (following the release of their rich and gritty first record You’re A Woman, I’m a Machine, tours with Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age, and one foot in the door of the mainstream) Death From Above 1979 reunited and released their second LP The Physical World last Fall. The duo has picked right up where they left off and are hitting the road this Summer. Amidst their resurgence in which they claim their rightful place among Bands Who Are Worth A Damn And Will Prove It To You, DFA 1979 are swinging through Nashville prepared to record direct-to-acetate in the Third Man Records Blue Room with ten years of lost time to recover and a fresh perspective. We can’t wait to see it, cut it, and share it with the world.

Live sessions at Third Man from bands such as the Shins, the Kills, the Melvins, Parquet Courts, Divine Fits, and Mudhoney have been previously released.
