Dr. Dre and Ice Cube Cleared in Suge Knight Murder Lawsuit

Last year, Suge Knight was charged with murder following the hit and run death of Terry Carter. Months after his death, Carter’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Knight, and also named Ice Cube and Dr. Dre as defendants in the suit. A court has now ruled that Ice Cube and Dre are not responsible for Carter’s death and have been removed from the lawsuit, TMZ reports. Suge Knight remains in the lawsuit; his murder trial is currently pending.

The original incident occurred in 2015 when Knight was involved in an altercation on the set of a promotional shoot for the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton. Upon leaving the set, he allegedly ran over Carter and another man, Cle “Bone” Sloane. Carter’s family had claimed that Ice Cube and Dre were involved because they said that the two had hired gang members to provide security for the promotional shoot. Those gang members, Carter’s family alleged, then instigated the incident that led to Terry Carter’s death.
