Dr. Dre Joins Bid to Bring 2024 Summer Olympics to Los Angeles

Dr. Dre has been named to the Board of Directors of a group vying to bring the 2024 Summer Olympics to Los Angeles, as Spin points out. The group, called LA 2024, is led by Casey Wasserman and includes Magic Johnson, Disney CEO Bob Iger, opera superstar Plácido Domingo, record executive David Geffen, Jason Collins (the first publicly gay NBA player), Lakers owner Jeanie Buss, and many others on the Board of Directors. L.A. is up against Paris in its bid for the 2024 games. The International Olympic Committee will elect the host city on September 13 in Lima, Peru. The Olympics have not been in the United States since the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.
