Dr. Dre Streams New Album Compton

Dr. Dre‘s new album Compton is out tomorrow via Apple Music. Inspired by his work on Straight Outta Compton, the upcoming N.W.A. biopic, the album features Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Eminem, and more.

Starting right now, the album is streaming via Apple Music for the next three hours. At midnight Eastern time (9 p.m. Pacific), Dre will chat with Zane Lowe about the album. Listen to Compton here.

Earlier today, Dre called into Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show to talk about Compton. He revealed that he’s going to be donating all of his royalties from the album to build a performing arts center in Compton. Listen to the interview here.

Update (8/6, 10:37 p.m.)Kendrick Lamar seems to have taken shots at Drake on “Darkside/Gone” and “Deep Water”. The two have a beef that dates back to 2013. Recent possible swipes include lyrics on “Used To” from Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Now, Kendrick may have given the beef new life with potential allusions to Drake’s “Energy“, “Started From the Bottom“, and the 6 – Drake’s nickname for Toronto. Find the lyrics in question below.

“Darkside/Gone”:

But still I got enemies giving me energy I wanna fight now/ Subliminally sent to me all of this hate/ I thought I was holding the mic down

“Deep Water”:

Motherfucker know I started from the bottom

They liable to bury him, they nominated six to carry him/ They worrying him to death, but he’s no vegetarian/ The beef is on his breath, inheriting the drama better than/ A great white, nigga, this is life in my aquarium
