Drake Claims Views Sold Over 600,000 Copies on First Day

Drake just released his fourth studio album VIEWSand he’s understandably excited about it. Last night, he gave an impromptu performance outside the Toronto Raptors game for fans. Later, at his album launch party, Drake claimed that VIEWS has sold over 600k copies so far, and thanked those in attendance for their support, as Complex points out. It has yet to be determined what percentage of those sales came from streaming. Back in February, the RIAA announced a change in policy, stating that streaming numbers would count alongside traditional album sales towards a gold or platinum certification. This also means that sales of “Hotline Bling” and previous singles “One Dance” and “Pop Style” would count towards album sales. VIEWS is currently available on iTunes and Apple Music, with no physical copies yet being sold.
