Drake, Grimes, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, More Make Polaris Prize Long List

The long list has been revealed for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize, which honors the best album of the year by a Canadian artist. It includes Drake, Grimes, the Weeknd, Carly Rae Jepsen, Justin Bieber, Peaches, Jessy Lanza, Kaytranada, Destroyer, Junior Boys, White Lung, and many more. You can find the full long list here. The short list will be announced July 14. The eventual winner will be announced September 19 at the Polaris Music Prize Gala, and will receive $50,000. Last year’s award went to Buffy Sainte-Marie‘s album Power in the Blood

The Polaris Prize longlist and shortlist are chosen by a jury of 196 Canadian music journalists, including Pitchfork contributors Stuart Berman and Renato Pagnani.
