Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes Denied Entry to Sting’s Bataclan Show

Jesse Hughes and another member of Eagles of Death Metal were denied entry to the Bataclan in Paris tonight, where Sting is holding the first concert at the venue since the deadly attacks of last year, as AFP reports. On November 13, 2015, gunmen targeted the venue where Eagles of Death Metal were holding a concert, killing 90 people. In a television interview earlier this year, Hughes implied that security staff at the venue were involved in the attack. (He later apologized, calling the accusation “absurd,” but then reiterated the comment in another interview, which led to the band being booted from French festival bills.)

“They came, I threw them out—there are things you can’t forgive,” Bataclan co-director Jules Frutos said. “He makes these incredibly false declarations every two months. It is madness, accusing our security of being complicit with the terrorists… Enough. Zero. This has to stop.” Pitchfork has reached out to Hughes’ representatives for comment.
