Elephant 6 Recording Co. Documentary in the Works

A Place We Have Been To is a new documentary that’s in the works about the Elephant 6 Recording Co., and it’s currently seeking funding via Pledge Music. The film features interviews with members of the collective, including the late Bill Doss from Olivia Tremor Control, and archival footage of the bands.

The film is being directed and produced by Chad Stockfleth and produced by Dan Efram/Tractor Beam. On October 13, there will be a fundraising event featuring an in-progress screening of the film and performances from Circulatory System and the Apples in Stereo’s Robert Schneider. It’ll take place at Ciné in Athens, Georgia. Grab tickets here.

If you pledge, you can receive posters, a download of the film, shirts, tickets to the in-progress screening in Athens, and your name in the credits.

Stockfleth said of the film:

“My hope for this film is not to make a ‘behind the music’ style exposition of exactly how groups were formed or albums recorded, but to create something more akin to an early E6 mail-order mixtape.” explains Director Chad Stockfleth. “A kaleidoscopic experience that not only encourages you to dig deeper into the Elephant 6 catalogue, but to gather your own friends and make something.”
