Elvis Presley Documentary Coming to HBO

HBO has announced a new, as-yet-untitled documentary from Sony Pictures Television about the life and music of Elvis Presley. The three-hour, two-part feature will tell the story of Elvis’ childhood all the way through his final recording sessions, featuring never-before-seen photos and footage as well as primary source interviews with musicians he worked with. The documentary was written by Alan Light and directed by Thom Zimny, who has also directed features for Bruce Springsteen, including last year’s The Ties That Bind and 2010’s The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town.  It was recently announced that Leonardo DiCaprio would star in a biopic based on the life of Presley’s producer Sam Phillips.
