Ennio Morricone’s Score for John Carpenter’s The Thing Gets Reissue

Ennio Morricone’s score for John Carpenter’s 1982 film The Thing is getting a vinyl reissue. In a deluxe reissue from Waxwork Records, Morricone’s original soundtrack has been remastered and pressed on two different 180-gram color variants (“deep blue with white haze” and “true white”) with new artwork with an 11” x 22” poster. The deluxe “Trapped in the Ice” edition also includes a “breakaway ice slip-case,” a “satin-coated old style gatefold,” and a booklet featuring an exclusive interview with Carpenter. The set, due February 23, is currently sold out via Waxwork. A second pressing is due later this year.

In 2016, Carpenter released a new album titled Lost Themes II, and Morricone won an Oscar for his score for The Hateful Eight. Read our “Update” interview with John Carpenter.
