At the beginning of October, Erykah Badu dropped “HOTLINE BLING BUT U CAINT USE MY PHONE MIX”, a remix of Drake‘s “Hotline Bling” that she said would appear on a forthcoming mixtape called But You Caint Use My Phone. (The title is a reference to her 1997 track “Tyrone”.) In an interview with Noisey, Badu said the mixtape will be released next week. She didn’t offer any details, but said “the usual suspects” would be involved.

Elsewhere in the interview, she offered thoughts on Drake and Meek Mill’s recent feud. “Loved it,” she said. “That’s what hip-hop is about to me. I liked that. That’s the way we’re supposed to handle it! I encourage it.”

On October 29-31, Badu will debut “Live Nudity”, a one-woman show, at Dallas’ Black Academy of Arts and Letters. She said the show will be largely improvised. “I have a format, kind of, but I haven’t really had time to write a 60-minute show, so we just have to see what happens,” she said.”

“It’s not biographical,” she said in a separate interview with Guide Live. “It’s kind of stream-of-consciousness. I’m a pretty spontaneous artist.” She said she had booked prospective performances in New York and Los Angeles theaters, but that she “chickened out.”

She continued: “The title really expresses the pure honesty of my many personas. And we’re not going to let you know if I’ll actually be nude or not — you’re going to have to come see.”

Badu will also host the Soul Train Music Awards, airing on BET and Centric on November 29.
