Erykah Badu Surprises Newark High School With Performance

Back in 2014, students at Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, N.J., were eating lunch when they were joined by a very special guest: Erykah Badu. She teamed up with the education initiative the Future Project to surprise students with a performance of her 1997 single “On and On.” While she sings, she approaches a bunch of students sitting at tables, and at one point, steals a bite of someone’s food. Watch it happen below.

Early this year, Badu released “Trill Friends,” her version of Kanye West’s “Real Friends,” and teased a new mixtape called THIS $h!t TOO EASY. Read “Life on the Line: A Telephone Conversation With Erykah Badu.”
