Flying Lotus Interviews Kendrick Lamar on BBC Radio 1

Flying Lotus has been hosting a monthly show on BBC Radio 1 as part of their Residency series. Tonight, he interviewed Kendrick Lamar on the show, calling his album To Pimp A Butterfly “a future classic”. The two discussed the new album, the state of hiphop, and the rewards of making music. “I encourage you, the listener, to always put your heart over a number or a dollar sign,” Lamar said.

Previously, Lamar contributed vocals on “Never Catch Me” from Flying Lotus’ 2014 album You’re Dead!, while Flying Lotus’ production appears on “Wesley’s Theory” from Lamar’s recent To Pimp a Butterfly.

Additionally, tonight’s show featured a guest mix from Brainfeeder colleague Lapalux.
