Update: The band has postponed their appearance in Austin, which was supposed to take place tomorrow, due to a family emergency. Instead, the documentary screening and Austin City Limits taping will take place on November 20.

This year marks the Foo Fighters‘ 20th anniversary. Today, the band have announced that they will be celebrating the occasion with a Fourth of July blowout at Washington, DC’s RFK Stadium.

In addition to Dave Grohl and company, the day will feature sets from Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr., Heart, Joan Jett, LL Cool J, Trouble Funk, and Trombone Shorty. To commemorate Independence Day, the band (whose new album Sonic Highways arrives next week) will hold a bunch of seasonal activities as well, including a motorcyle rally, a barbecue and, of course, fireworks. Full details are on the flyer below.

Tomorrow, HBO will air another installment of “Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways”, their documentary series covering the making of the Foos’ latest LP in eight cities across the country. This week, Grohl et al head to Austin, Texas, crossing paths with several guests along the way: Gary Clark Jr., the 13th Floor Elevators’ Roky Erickson, Billy Gibbons, Jimmie Vaughan, and Big Boys’ Tim Kerr, just to name a few. Foo Fighters also speak with Terry Lickona, executive producer of “Austin City Limits”, and visit the show’s famous Studio 6A to record a cover of Erickson’s “Two Headed Dog (Red Temple Prayer)” with producer Butch Vig. Watch a trailer for the episode below.

On November 7, same night the episode airs, the band and Austin City Limits will hold a screening of the episode and, more importantly, tape a set for an upcoming episode of Austin City Limits. Full details are on the Austin City Limits website.
