Former Backstreet Boys Manager Lou Pearlman Dead at 62

Lou Pearlman, the former manager and producer of boy bands like Backstreet Boys and ‘NSync, has died, Billboard reports. The music industry entrepreneur was serving a 25-year prison term after being convicted on counts of conspiracy, money laundering, and making false statements during a bankruptcy proceeding in 2008. Pearlman built the careers of Backstreet Boys and ‘NSync, and also managed LFO, Aaron Carter, and girl group Innosense (with a young Britney Spears) throughout his career. Pearlman was also the co-creator of the reality television show “Making the Band,” and spearheaded the first season (which is where O-Town came about).
