Frank Ocean Producer Malay to Hold Reddit AMA, But You Can’t Ask Him About Frank Ocean

James Ho (aka the producer Malay) produced, wrote, and played on Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange. As the world awaits Frank’s next album Boys Don’t Cry (which was reportedly set for release last week, but never arrived), Malay will participate in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Monday, August 15 at 2 p.m. Eastern, as The Fader notes. It’ll take place on the r/FrankOcean subreddit, but Malay has made clear that he will not answer certain Frank-related questions. He won’t discuss the release date or “the production, creation, or anything involving Frank’s new album.” He also would not like to touch on “Frank’s creative process,” as it’s “private to the artist.” Anything else is fair game!

Malay spoke with Pitchfork in March. At the time, he said: “A lot of the stuff on [Frank’s] new album was done with a handheld mic sitting in the control room.” He added, “Frank’s exploring different vibes completely on this album.
