Ghostface Says He’s in Charge of the Next Wu-Tang Album

Ghostface Says He’s in Charge of the Next Wu-Tang Album

For most of Wu-Tang Clan’s studio albums, both RZA and Ghostface Killah have been credited as executive producers. But on 2007’s 8 Diagrams and 2014’s A Better Tomorrow, RZA was the only group member with the role, and now Ghost says it’s his turn to take the lead on the next Wu-Tang album. In an interview with HipHopDX, he said, “RZA put the ball in my hand. He said ‘Yo, I want you to do it,’ and I been wanting to do it, and that’s a big test for me right there.”

When asked if he was making an effort to get the group together because he’s in charge, Ghostface said that he wanted to finish his contributions before moving forward with theirs: “I’m going to do my part first and let them know what I did and then have them listen to that and follow my lead. It’s like how they do in sports with athletes. It’s like alright, just follow my lead.” Elsewhere in the interview, he teased the long-awaited Supreme Clientele 2. Read the full interview here.

RZA is currently working with Paul Banks of Interpol as the duo Bankz & Steelz. Their debut record Anything But Words is due August 26. Read our interview with RZA and Banks on the Pitch.
