Grammys 2017: Lady Gaga and Metallica Performance Marred by Non-Working Mic

As promised, Lady Gaga and Metallica performed together tonight at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. It didn’t go very smoothly at the beginning. They performed “Moth Into Flame” from Hardwired… to Self-Destruct, and at the start of the performance, James Hetfield’s mic wasn’t working. They got it up and running after a little while, though. Watch Gaga stagedive, Lars Ulrich drum behind fire, and Hetfield scream into Gaga’s mic below.

Metallica’s “Hardwired” was nominated for Best Rock Song tonight, but lost to David Bowie’s “Blackstar.” Gaga was not up for any awards, as Joanne came out too late to qualify. Last week, Gaga performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. She also recently announced a world tour. At last year’s Grammys, she honored David Bowie with a medley.
