Grammys 2017: Solange Wins Best R&B Performance

Solange has won Best R&B Performance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards. “Cranes in the Sky” beat out Rihanna, BJ the Chicago Kid, Ro James, and Musiq Soulchild. It was Solange’s sole Grammy nomination for anything off her album A Seat at the Table, which Pitchfork listed as the No. 1 album of 2016. Later in the evening, Solange posted the following in Instagram:

thank you for your well wishes… i won tonight, but i won along time ago because of the things you have shared with me along the journey. I am filled with gratitude for that. Ps: if i got to accept my speech, I would’ve said….. all black girls/ women ARE grammys mufuuuckaa
