Grandaddy Cancel Tour Following Bassist’s Death

Grandaddy have canceled their upcoming North American tour, a representative for the band confirmed to Pitchfork. The announcement follows the death of bassist Kevin Garcia, who passed away at 41 following a stroke. “Given the circumstances, we unfortunately have to cancel our upcoming U.S. tour dates,” the band said in a statement. “We hope to reschedule these at some point in the future.” Grandaddy was slated to begin performing in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 7. They’re still scheduled to perform a handful of European dates this summer. The band have asked fans to contribute to Garcia’s GoFundMe page to help his family with forthcoming expenses. Grandaddy released a new album in March called Last Place after a 10-year hiatus.
